The Upper Middle Rhine Valley is the section of the Rhine River between Bingen and Koblenz, which was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. Characteristic of this region are the steeply rising valley slopes on the left and right banks of the Rhine, which flows northward through the valley in numerous loops. In the stretch of the Rhine from Bingen to Koblenz, there is something truly special: a large number of castles that have been built along the Upper Middle Rhine Valley over the centuries and play a significant role in the romantic impression that still emanates from this river landscape today. Since the 18th century, the Upper Middle Rhine Valley has even become synonymous with Rhine Romanticism.

This illustrated photo book (in german)  showcases the Upper Middle Rhine Valley when darkness falls by photo impressions of the castles. At this time, the castles and palaces literally appear in a new light. The buildings compete with each other, glowing in warm colors, and each castle is a wonderful sight. The book aims to capture this magical play of lights. Additionally, all the structures are also presented in daylight.
